

William (“Bill”) Ira Avery, age 83, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on October 4, 1942, in Dunn, North Carolina to William Harden Avery and Annie Ruth Avery.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years until his retirement as a Chief Master Sergeant. After completing his military service, Bill began a long, fulfilling career at Lockheed Martin, where he worked until his retirement in 2004.
He was a faithful Christian and a deacon in the Baptist church who practiced his faith by giving time and resources to the Lord.
Known for his curiosity and steady hands, he enjoyed fixing things of all kinds and was always the person family and friends turned to when something needed repair.
At every family gathering, he could be found at the grill cooking burgers and hot dogs. Generosity was one of Bill’s defining qualities. He gave freely of his time, his talents, and his heart, leaving an imprint on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy; his children Greg Everwine and wife Leellen, Tim Everwine and wife Jenny, David Murray and wife Elizabeth, Diane Reuter and husband Mark; his grandchildren Amy Singleterry and husband Brian, Joseph Murray, Sarah Moelling and husband Samuel, Katherine Everwine, and Kristine Everwine; his great grandchildren Marin and Rose Singleterry and Gwenivere Moelling; his sister Betty Johnson; nephews Randy Johnson and wife Ticia and William Johnson and wife Sherri. He is preceded in death by his father and mother William and Annie Avery, and his sister Hilda Ainsworth.
A funeral service will be held at Travis Avenue Baptist Church, located at 800 W Berry St, Fort Worth, TX 76110, United States. The service is scheduled for December 6, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Pallbearers for the service will include Joseph Murray, Mark Reuter, Brian Singleterry, Samuel Moelling, Randy Johnson, and Wayne Davis.
