Charles was born in February 1934 to George and Carrie Pettigrew in Muncie, Ind. He served his country proudly for over 22 years in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. Charles married Linda Bryant and together became very active in the children's ministry at Burleson Church of Christ. Because of the couple's support and devotion to Christ, many generations of children came to know Jesus. Together they spent over 30 years ministering to the 5-year-old classes, and what joy it was to see children return to their class from members who had grown up in a class previously overseen by Charles and Linda. Charles loved country music and golf. For his 65th birthday Charles was treated to a great golf game at Tour 18 in Flower Mound with his son, Chuck. His family remembers him as a devoted, caring, loving man who selflessly gave of himself in service to others.
He has joined in heaven his parents; brothers, George Pettigrew and Bryon Pettigrew; and grandson, Jacob Pettigrew.
Survivors: Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Linda Bryant Pettigrew; sons, Wayne and wife, Judy, Chuck and wife, Patty, Michael and wife, Crickett, Geoffery and wife, Jennie, David and wife, Riki; brother, Carl Pettigrew and wife, Abbey; sisters, Patricia Akins and husband, David, Martha Dearduff, Rose Hubbard; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family and dear friends.
