Charles was born November 29th, 1939, to Lester and Ruth Whitlock in Ink, Missouri. Upon graduating South East High School, he enlisted in the Air Force and served as a medic in the Vietnam War. While stationed in Korea, he met and married Kim Chil Ye and had two daughters. After a meritorious 26-year career in the military, he transitioned to civilian life and worked faithfully at General Services Administration until his retirement.
Charles’ life was marked by selfless sacrifice. A man of honor and duty, he soldiered tirelessly through more than his fair share of hardships to provide for his family, serve his country, and pour into the local community. His faith in the Lord was unwavering, and he daily lived out James 1:27 by caring for those who were vulnerable and marginalized.
Charles is survived by his loving daughters, Leslie Ailshie and Byna Terndrup, his grandchildren Maddy Ailshie, Gable Terndrup, and Kittra Terndrup, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Ruth, his wife Kim Chil Ye, and his sister Edna “Margie” Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project or This Rock Baptist Church.
