

Christine Thomas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. A service honoring her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Wednesday, March 11, from 5 -7 pm.
Born on November 1, 1935, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Roy Lee and Mary Taylor, Christine was a lifelong Texan with a spirited heart. A proud 1953 graduate of Paschal High School, she went on to what is now the University of North Texas, where she balanced her love for tennis with her studies. In 1957, she earned her degree in Physical Education with minors in Science and English. Christine dedicated a decade to shaping young minds as a teacher, concluding her career at Wedgwood Junior High in Fort Worth.
On August 9, 1958, she married the love of her life, James Melville “Buster” Thomas. Together, they raised two daughters, Sherilyn and Lee Ann, who remained the light of her life and her greatest joy.
Christine was happiest when she was spending time with loved ones and especially with her grandsons. She cherished family vacations and found her greatest peace at the family cabin on Pennington Creek near Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The cabin, built by Buster and her father, served as the backdrop for countless happy memories with friends and family.
A woman of steady faith, Christine was a member of Altamesa Church of Christ. She lived out her values through a gift for hospitality, frequently opening her home for meals, bridal and baby showers, and fellowship groups. Whether through a meal, a thoughtful card, or a timely phone call, Christine was always there to support those who needed a touch.
Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Buster, her sister Mary Lee Boston and husband Don, and her brother Roy J. Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Sherilyn Jones and husband Leon, and Lee Ann Moore and husband Danny.
