

Clyde lived a long and fruitful life and touched many lives of those he encountered. He was born April 18, 1929 in Forreston, Ellis County, Texas to the Late Joe Whelan and Mary Delila Smith Carter. Clyde was a graduate of Forreston High School. He met the love of his life, Margie Waite Groce Carter and they were married October 20, 1949. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from February 12, 1952 to February 11, 1956. Clyde joined the City of Fort Worth Fire Department in 1956, serving at Station No. 1 his entire career, retiring in 1985. Clyde was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burleson, a member of Burleson Masonic Lodge #649, Eastern Star Chapter #431, Scottish Rite, Worth Commandry #19, Texas Council #321, Texas Chapter #362, Moslah Shrine Temple and Fort Worth City Retired Firefighters Association.
Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Waite Carter, three sisters, Mona Bradford Bourland, Buna Guthrie, Gladys Gipson and two brothers, Herbert J. Carter and Grady L. Carter.
Survivors: Nieces, Betty Jo Burks of Waxahachie, Patsy Ruth (Russell) Berrier of Weatherford, and Carol Anne (Bill) Lineback of Casper, Wyoming and a nephew, Billy Bob Bradford of Fort Worth, and numerous great-nieces and nephews and many dear friends, among those, John and Cynthia Judkins of Burleson.
