

In Loving Memory of David Lee Clay

David Lee Clay was born on July 13, 1957, in Jacksonville, Texas, the cherished only child of Will Clay Jr. and Luveta Thompson Clay. He was their blessing, deeply loved and treasured throughout their lives.
David was raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and educated with the Fort Worth ISD. He enjoyed playing in the band playing the saxophone He graduated from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1976.
After a brief stint at General Motors, he discovered his true calling on the open road. A proud truck driver, David found joy in solitude and the ever-changing scenery of America’s highways. He often boasted that he had visited every state in the continental U.S. except two—a testament to his adventurous spirit and love of travel. He continued driving until his health declined in 2017.
A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, David never missed a chance to cheer on his team. His loyalty and enthusiasm were infectious, and he carried that same passion into all aspects of his life.
David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Will Clay Jr. (2008) and Luveta Clay (2024).
He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in his daughters, Destiny Weidman and Danielle Clay; granddaughters Amerie Weidman and Lyrik Smoots; grandson Tyren Irving; and a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
