A visitation for Delbert will be held Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel and Cemetery, 7301 East Lancaster, Fort Worth, TX 76112. A graveside service will occur Friday, September 3, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel and Cemetery.
Delbert was born in Sanger, Texas to Fredrick H. Sims and Bessie Turner Sims on April 6, 1943. From a young age, he enjoyed sports and could be found cheering on his favorite basketball and football teams. He really enjoyed watching Old Westerns. He was a dedicated employee and instilled his good work ethic on his family.
Delbert married his wife, Neomia on May 2, 1964 and to this union they welcomed two sons, who were Delbert’s pride and joy. As family grew, his grandchildren and great grandchildren were who filled his days with plenty of smiles, laughs and wonderful memories. A family man at heart and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, he will be dearly missed.
Delbert is preceded in death by his father Fred Sims and mother Norvesta Bess Sims.
Left to cherish Delbert’s memory are his wife, Neomia Sims; children, James F. Sims (Tracie) and Corwin D. Sims (Candra); siblings Bessie White and brother Freddie Sims; grandchildren, James F Sims Jr.(Ashfany), Brittney Sims-Spearmon (Christopher), Brinesha Sims-Mbonkumu (Cristiano); great-grandchildren, Mya Spearmon, Aubrey Sims, Zoe Mbonkumu, Avery Grace Sims, and Marli Rose Spearmon; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
