

Donald Warren Ellsworth passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 17, 2025 at his home in Richland Hills, Texas. He was born on February 22, 1945 in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa on his grandfather William Lee Ellsworth’s birthday. Don was baptized Catholic and attended parochial schools through graduation at Heelan High in 1964. On July 14, 1965 Don married the love of his life Mary Helen Dicus celebrating 60 years of marriage.
He followed his father into the plumbing trade serving a 5 year apprenticeship through Local Union 18 in Sioux City, Iowa and went on to become a steamfitter/pipefitter working on large power plants across the country including Minnesota, Iowa, Nevada, Kentucky and Indiana. He transferred membership to Local Union 350 in Reno, Nevada, 1982. After the closing of an older generating plant in Terra Haute, Indiana he moved his family to Fort Worth, Texas in 1992, working for several plumbing companies and obtained his master license. He created his own plumbing business in 1996 called DME Plumbing doing mainly commercial remodeling. Don retired In September 2012.
Don knew no stranger, enjoyed fishing and boating, bowling, loved to dance, enjoyed country music and the good old westerns plus loved telling stories to the young nieces and nephews especially “the big bad Wolf”
He will be missed by his loving dog, Milo.
Don was a long standing member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Parish, North Richland Hills.
Don is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughter Brenda and husband Rocky Wooten of Burleson,TX; son Timothy Donald of Richland Hills; grandsons Timothy Donald Jr. of Richland Hills, special friend Ashley Wetmore; Brandon James (born on Don’s birthday) and Joshua Wooten both of Burleson; his brother Thomas Ellsworth of Mississippi; sister-in-laws Peggy Gearen and Marge Dicus. 5 first cousins, 20 nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and nephews.
Those preceding in death, his parents Donald Leroy and June Rose (Burke) Ellsworth, brothers Joseph, James and Mike Ellsworth and sister, Mary Verderber Ofert.
The viewing will be at Shannon Funeral Chapel on Rufe Snow Dr. Friday August, 22, 2025 from 6pm-8pm
Rosary and funeral will be Saturday August 23, 2025 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in North Richland Hills at 9am with gathering following at their residence.
