Donna Kay Stewart stepped from the bonds of her earthly body and into the presence of her Lord on February 20, 2024 at the age of 77. Donna is survived by her son, Jeff Stewart, her daughter Shannon Morris and husband Bobby, as well as her granddaughters, Laramie Rivera and husband Chris, Julianna Morris, and Willow Stewart; and her great-granddaughters Evie and Mia.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband Don Stewart, her mother Mary Elizabeth Wilson, and her father William Wilson as well as her sisters Patsy, Sandra, and Billy.
The youngest of four sisters, Donna was born on August 20, 1946 and graduated from Tech High School in Fort Worth. She and her husband met for their first date, and as the story has been told, Don went home and told his mother that night that he met the woman he was going to marry. They married a few months later and built a love that would last forever.
Friends and family knew Donna as a woman of faith and a fantastic cook who worked tirelessly to ensure that her church family was fed the best of her cooking on church work-days and fellowship meetings and that her home family was fed physically and spiritually. She was a true servant of our Lord who cared deeply for others and was quick to step up when someone needed help. Donna was also an avid gardener with the greenest thumb anyone could have. She could take a stick and grow it into a magnificent plant. She new the names of most every type of plant that grew in her flowerbeds and those she couldn’t remember or read wrong, she made up.
Donna’s funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, February 28 at 9:30 AM, followed by her internment at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11:30 AM. Donna’s funeral at Shannon’s Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel and her son-in-law, Bobby will officiate. All are welcome to attend both the funeral and the internment as we celebrate the life of this great woman.
The family would like to thank all of those who have poured out their condolences and prayers for comfort - they have been felt- as well as each of you in attendance at this service. Your love and presence is a reminder for us of her love for others and blesses everyone who knew and loved her.
