Donnie married Cindy Elliott on March 26, 1977. They had a unique beginning since Cindy's maiden name was also Elliott. Although Cindy grew up in Kansas, they met in Euless, TX. That was the beginning of a happy and enduring 48 year marriage. Donnie was a true romantic; he loved thoughtful gift giving, surprises and he especially enjoyed sending beautiful flowers. He was a remarkable husband, father, and grandfather, always loving and giving unconditionally. He kept a small circle of family and friends but if you were lucky enough to belong to that circle, you were indeed a fortunate person.
He was a project manager in Information Technology for American Airlines for 25 years. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving in the United States Air Force for four years. He loved his country and was an extremely loyal and patriotic man. Being a father to his sons, Ryan and Justin, and Pappy to his grandsons, Parks and Anden, were among his greatest joys.
He had the ability to recognize talents and strengths in those he loved and would work tirelessly to help them develop those skills. His sons both excelled in their respective talents as a result. He was comfortable being a behind the scenes kind of guy as he watched his loved ones shine. His family will miss that quality greatly. He loved fast flashy cars and driving on the open road. He owned many vehicles in his lifetime and surprised (shocked!) Cindy with a Corvette in their driveway when their boys were young. His love of music, from Led Zeppelin to Andrea Bocelli, has been passed on through the generations but he will be most remembered for being one of Elvis Presley's greatest fans.
Donnie was preceded in death by his son, Justin; his mother and father; and two sisters, JoAnne and Judy.
He is survived by wife, Cindy; son, Ryan Elliott and daughter in law, Christie; grandsons, Parks and Anden Elliott; sister, Jane; as well as, many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.
