Donnie Wayne Greenlee

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 23, 1968, Donnie spent his early years in Haltom City before settling in Watauga in 1992, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a proud graduate of Haltom High School, Class of 1987.

On August 3, 1991, Donnie married his high school sweetheart, Laura James Greenlee. Their love story spanned over three decades and together they raised three children who were his greatest joy.

Donnie had a gift for making people feel like family. Just like his mother, he “adopted” his daughters’ friends and partners into his heart. Kendrick Streeter, Axel Whack, and Emily Wright were embraced as his own.

Donnie held a variety of jobs over the years, but especially enjoyed his roles at American Airlines, UTA, and Sabre. He took great pride in his work and found joy in helping others through his customer service roles.

Donnie was known for his love of video games, movies, superheroes, Star Wars, cats, funny T-shirts, and funky Hawaiian shirts. He was a talker, a trivia buff, and a human jukebox of song lyrics. He never met a stranger, and his ability to strike up a conversation—and a friendship—was unmatched.

Above all, family was everything to him. He found great joy in cooking for his family and sharing stories that sounded straight out of Tom Sawyer—full of creekside explorations and harmless mischief. He loved retelling tales like getting the police called on him as a toddler for riding his Big Wheel in a neighbor's driveway, or the time he and friends were caught on the school roof. He liked to emphasize that he never did anything wrong, it was just “cool”.

Donnie leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and a life well-lived.

He is survived by his devoted wife Laura, his daughters Danielle Nicole Greenlee, Annalisa Christine Greenlee, and Liliana Evelyn Greenlee, his brother James Heath Greenlee and wife Sandra, niece Sierra Boudreaux, nephew Josh Bates, and his stepfather Raymond Bray, as well as many close friends.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father James Floyd Greenlee, his mother Judy Evelyn Josey, and his brother Rodney Louis Greenlee.
