Dorene Pigg

She was born on December 21, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas to Dora Fletcher and Shirley Brock Smith. She married John Pigg on May 14, 1957. They were blessed with four children, Brenda, John Jr., Doug, and Julie.

Dorene was preceded in death by her husband John, both her parents, brothers Leon and Brock Smith, and her sister Connie Carr.

She is survived by all four children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous other family members. She is also survived by a sister, Linda Adams.

Dorene lived in Everman, Texas for over fifty years and attended the Everman Church of Christ, where she served in many capacities. She was always willing to help others. She loved God and strived to serve Him. She was an example to both friends and family.

She taught Bible classes and worked on the Joy Bus for years, bringing children to church services. She touched so many lives with her countless Bible studies, with anyone willing to learn, and brought many souls to Christ. She also received much joy attending lectureships, where she made lifelong friendships with other Christians.

Dorene never met a stranger. She was friendly and outgoing. Always willing to help others and did. She was a woman of action.

She loved her family and was our rock. She was beautiful inside and out. The most selfless person. Always there for every one of us. Someone we could count on. Someone that prayed for us. Someone that led by example and we could all learn from.

She is loved and will be missed greatly.

A visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 3pm to 5pm. Funeral service will be held at Highland Church of Christ on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 9am followed by burial at DFW National Cemetery.
