Doris was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Arvada, Colo. She married her high school youth group sweetheart, Robert Allen. Upon graduation from Biola University, she went to the mission field, serving with her husband under Sudan Interior Mission in Nigeria, West Africa. Her heart was with the orphans, who she helped raise.
Upon returning from the mission field, she served more than 20 years at Biola University in donor relations. She also served with her husband on the staff of Calvary Bible Church in Grass Valley, Calif., for 20 years as a pastor's wife and deaconess, Sunday school teacher, but her real passion was being able to work in the nursery.
Doris loved being a mother to five children, grandmother to nine and great-grandmother to 15.
Doris was preceded in death by her two sons, Dennis Robert Allen and John March Allen; one sister; one brother; and her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, of 70 years, Robert O. Allen; daughters, Becky Allen, Betsy Lacy and husband, Tim, along with son, Tim Allen, all of Burleson.
