

Weatherford Texas lost a beloved member of their community last week. Doris Fay Cashen was 94 years young. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and a woman ahead of her time. She was beloved by all, and affectionately called Granny by the entire community.
Doris left us to be with the Lord on November 17th, 2020 at 11 AM after an 11-day battle with pneumonia. She went peacefully in her sleep, in her home surrounded by family and friends.
Doris was born on December 4th, 1925 in Westover, Texas. Her parents were: Tillman B. McWhorter and Fay Warren. She was married twice, and both husbands passed before her. First married to Foster Brown and finally to Ralph Cashen. She was a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for decades, taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and served as the treasurer for numerous years. She attended school in Westover, Texas where she later graduated. She was a retired postal worker and homemaker. In her younger years, she picked cotton with her 5 siblings, including her one surviving sister Peggie Hubbard.
She had 10 children. Six of which preceded her in death. Judy Price, Rickey Brown, Terry Brown, Stephen Brown, David Cashen, Dennis Cashen and Danny Cashen and two grandchildren.
She was survived by four of her children Brenda McClurkan, Dean Cashen, Doug Cashen, Donna Menn and over 60 grandchildren, dozens of great-grandkids and over two dozen great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends that will sadly miss her.
You will be missed by all Granny!
A celebration of life and potluck lunch will be served at her son’s house, Dean Cashen located at 6434 Allena Lane, Richland Hills, TX 76116. Guests are encouraged to participate with stories, music, poems, etc. to honor her memory. Please do not forget your masks.
