

Doris Jean Andrews was born in Electra, Texas on October 26, 1930, along with her twin sister Dot to their parents Homer and Trixie Andrews. “Dean” as she became known soon thereafter, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 5, 2022, at the age of 91. She had been living in the Buckner Villa Retirement Community in Austin, TX where she passed away. She grew up during the Great Depression, living in various places like Burkburnett, Sunshine Hill and Harrold, Texas. She met the love of her life, John McLaughlin, during her junior year at Electra High School. John had just returned from serving in the US Navy. The following year, the day after her high school graduation, Dean and John were married. They lived in Electra and Wichita Falls, TX over the next five years before finally moving to Ft. Worth, TX. They were blessed with two daughters, Lynda Lee who was born in Electra and Dana Sue who was born in Ft. Worth. While living in the Polytechnic and Meadowbrook areas of Ft. Worth they were members of Polytechnic United Methodist Church.
While John worked for and eventually became part owner of the Atlas Match Corporation, Dean was busy at home raising their daughters. She sewed many of her daughters’ clothes. Eventually, in 1969, Dean went to work in the Personnel Department of the Fort Worth Independent School District where she remained for thirteen years. She then transferred to Eastern Hills High School where she worked in the library for ten years until she retired in 1992. Throughout their lives together, Dean and John enjoying playing golf and traveling abroad.
Dean was preceded in death by her granddaughter Jamil, daughter Dana Sue in 1984, her daughter Lynda Lee in 2002 and her husband John in 2003. She is survived by her granddaughter Shanti Deva and her partner Trey Jones and grandson Satya Manz.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.- 10:30a.m. Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will follow in the cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel and Cemetery, 7301 E Lancaster Avenue, in Fort Worth, Texas.
