My dear Meme, to this day you truly have no idea how much I miss you, and how sorry  I am for not being there for you when you passed, I will never forgive myself for that, you were the best woman on this planet.

My husband's job moved us from overseas to Fort Worth when my son, Jonah, was 5 months old.   I knew nobody in Texas and had no way of doing  my translating work with a baby at home. We  met Miss Doris through the Arborlawn Methodist Church's mother's day out program. My son adored her (as all the children did) and he spent many days over the next 4 years at Arborlawn or playing in Miss Doris's yard. Thanks to knowing he was in the care of this wonderful, gentle soul, I was able to build a successful career and know that my son was having the best childhood. I owe so much to Miss Doris. Thank you, dear Miss Doris, and rest in peace.

Doris was a wonderful friend for over 48 yrs. We 1st met when my oldest daughter would not go to day care. She cried & tried to sneak out to walk home. My mother in law told me about Doris and when an opening came in her home I grabbed it.  She loved it there & learned songs & games she sang at home. Doris took such good care of her.  From there we began to talk about the Bible & Jesus and a lifelong friendship developed.  I could always count on her prayers and she did mine also.  I am thankful she is walking the streets of gold with her savior. I will meet you at the gates of heaven one day !

Miss Doris took wonderful care of my baby at Arborlawn. One of my MDO friends said, “Miss Doris is the best thing that could ever happen to a baby.”
My condolences to the family.

What can I say about a special lady that was a mom, grandma and friend to so many people that loved her.  She had a natural way with all the children in her care. She was a friend and confidant to all of us who worked with her. Heaven has gained an angel.

Gosh it’s been years since having Doris watch my daughter April. She was  a God send to me. I was a single parent and she watched her when I had to work. She was so nice and loving to her and all her kids. I am sorry to hear of your loss . She was a big help to many parents and it was a calling in her life.  I am sure you are proud of her and miss her so much. I will have to tell April which is 45 now that she went to be with the Lord JESUS!

Stan - do you remember when aunt Doris would have us keep the windows rolled up in the summer time so others wouldn't know that we had no air conditioning in the car.  It would get really hot in that car.  
Some other memories - the jelly fish stings and remedies.  The bacon, eggs and catfish cooking on the gas grills out at Lake Whitney - I can almost hear the sizzle and smell the wonderful aroma when I close my eyes and can see in my mind, mom, aunt Doris and aunt Leoda getting breakfast ready for our large camp.
My memories of my favorite aunt Doris are still with me - she was always a positive force and a pleasure to be around.  Mom and aunt Doris were really close, I'm sure mom is aware of your mom passing.  I love y'all - you're in my thoughts and prayers.
