

**Historical Account of the Life of Edward Dean Cox**
Edward Dean Cox, a follower of Jesus, a devoted family man and distinguished veteran, passed away on January 8, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on October 17, 1945, in Rosebud, Texas, to Naomi House and raised by Joseph P. Coulter Sr.Edward graduated from Wilson White high school with honors in Rosebud and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1964. He dedicated 30 years of his life to military service, ultimately retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. Throughout his career, Edward was stationed in various locations, including Guam and California, before settling in Colorado upon his retirement.
An ambitious and lifelong learner, Edward earned three associate degrees and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland in June 1991. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University and a second Master’s degree in Procurement and Acquisition Management from Webster University in 1992.
Edward was known for his love of God and His word, leadership qualities and his deep commitment to family, education, and community involvement. He was an active member of several organizations, reflecting his passion for giving back. Among his affiliations were the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Toastmasters, the Shriners, and Freemasonry, where he made significant contributions to his community.
In addition to his professional achievements, Edward cherished the time spent traveling across the country with his beloved wife, Ruth Cox. Together, they embraced life to the fullest, creating lasting memories.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, his sister Norma Coulter, his brother Thomas Coulter, and his children Cheryl, Nikki, and Michael.
He is survived by a loving family that includes his Aunt Johnie, sisters Josie Coulter, Vickie Coulter Davis, Beverly Coulter, and Betty Cox step-sister; Doris Grant, brothers; Kenneth Coulter, JP Coulter Jr., and Willie Cox; his sons Thomas Fry and Edward Jr.; as well as countless nieces and nephews. Edward also leaves behind a legacy of 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
Edward Dean Cox will be remembered not only for his military service and educational accomplishments but also for him being a great man on God who discipled many followers of Jesus, and his unwavering dedication to family and community. His legacy of leadership, love, and commitment to service will continue to inspire those who knew him.
No matter his geographical location, he and his family always connected with a local body of believers in Christ Jesus, faithfully serving in many different capacities.
