

On February 9, 1950 in Fort Worth, TX, J.D. Nelson and Lucille Marie Kincade became the proud parents of a baby girl whom they names Evelyn Nelson. She began her Christian walk with God and was baptized at the age of eight at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She received her education from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1968.
As she matriculated further in life, she met and married the love of her life, Lawrence Lusk, Jr in 1970. To their union, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl whom they named Monique Catrice Lusk that same year.
Evelyn worked hard and held many jobs until she found her true passion in being a certified nurses aid. She loved to sing as her sister would accompany her on the piano. She truly loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and praised Him always. Her last house of worship was Open Arms of Love Apostolic Church in Fort Worth, TX. until she was no longer able. She was an avid member and served in the Usher Ministry many years at Greater Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of Pastor E.L. Bowman. In earlier years, she was also known for her melodious voice at Providence Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Nelson and Lucille Marie Kincade; beloved husband, Lawrence Lusk, Jr; and grandmother, Thelma Willis.
She leaves to cherish her legacy, laugh, and love are her daughters: Monique Catrice Lusk, Comancei Enise Lusk, LeKeshia Quevette Lusk; grandchildren: Marquiest Jamal Lusk, Markeshia Elder, Dennis Elder, Marquel Baker, Jadence K. Lusk, Kevin C. Hardy, II, and Javin A. Lusk; great-grandchildren: Layla Lusk, Kylee Lusk, Kendyn Elder, Marleigh Baker, Alanna Baker; siblings: Mary Brown (Herman), Bertha Lyle (Ernest), Helen Guiyard (Ronnie); and a host of family, church members, and friends.
