I know this is late and I apologize.  I just found the site today at work today, in the classroom where I taught Garritt world history, and where soon I’ll be teaching Gavin world history.  


Garritt brought positive energy to my room every day and I loved talking with him, even if it wasn’t on topic with the class.  He was an extremely bright young man, when he put his head down and worked on something the result was always quality work and he was always willing to help his friends.   He would always make me laugh with an off topic question or 2 everyday, sense of humor and charisma were great qualities of his.  

Words can’t express how tragic it is to lose someone like GP so early in life, so instead of words I will try to honor his memory by mentoring his close friends and family that I still interact with and will be working around in the future.  GP you’re loved and never forgotten.

Garritt was a special person in my life that I will never forget. I’ve known him since middle school and I watched him grow into such a wonderful man. He was such a sweet soul. He would take me to school when I needed it. If I was upset he would pick me up and we would just drive around until we both knew it was time to go home. I considered joining the marines right after graduation and Garritt was right there, supporting me. He even went into the recruiters office with me and talked to the sergeant. He stood by my side no matter what. His family raised such a good young man and I will forever be grateful that I got to experience such an amazing friendship with him. 

From the first time I met Garritt it was like we had been friends for years. We had the most amazing times together and I cherish every single memory I have with him. I’ve always considered him one of my very best friends because he always made sure I knew he was there for me no matter what. I loved Garritt with my whole heart and I am the luckiest person to have gotten to know him and his wonderful family.

I am heartbroken to hear this.  May God’s peace sustain your family during this difficult time.  Garrett was always one of my favorite kids when I was at GV.  Praying for your family!!

Garritt was in my 6th grade class.  He was a bright, sweet, and polite young man!  My thoughts and prayers are with the Perdue family. 

We met the Garrit Purdue And his Family because our son played with Gavin... Garrit was always at the games sometimes playing with our oldest son while the other two kids were playing their baseball game.. Garrit was always a sweet playful kid around, smiling. 
Our hearts and prayers go to all the people that love him.. May God give you the strength in this time of sorrow.  We are thinking of you and your love ones. 

Garritt and I went to school from elementary to high school. I’ve known him basically my whole life and the second i heard this news i really could not believe it. I feel so much pain for not just his family but every person he ever came in contact with. Garritt was the person who gave u something to smile about, and anyone who met him knows that he was such a kind and caring soul.  My deepest condolences to Garritt’s family. Thank you for giving us the most generous, admirable, loving person we have ever known.

I just wanted to send my condolences to the sweet Perdue family. I was Garritt’s second grade teacher at Green Valley and he was the sweetest kid! I ran into him not long ago when he was “all grown up” and he was just as sweet and respectful as he was as an 8 year old! My heart breaks for you and you will be in my prayers as you heal from this huge loss.

I remember when an umbrella stand was at the bottom of my pool and with the weather and the water in the 40’s Blake jumped in and swim to the bottom and retrieved it. He would do anything to help you out. He was a great boy who will be thoroughly missed. RIP and know you were very much appreciated.

I met Garritt April of 2019. I was so nervous about starting college and he told me he would be there with me every step of the way and he was. From always going to his room to help him with his schoolwork to just bringing him food at all hours of the night. After he left MSU, we still stayed in contact. I would get random texts from him letting me know how he was doing and asking me how I was doing. This past week has been so hard. Non stop crying. I miss you Garritt.

Going over to Garritt’s house everyday no matter what with the boys and playing bat ball 

Garritt and I met through MSU. He was super close with my friend Hailey which made me closer to him. One day he needed help with his English(which is my favorite subject) so i told him to come over and i helped him but we ended up watching more Netflix than homework lol! But just a few months ago i remember logging onto my laptop and his login was still saved in my computer and it made me think of him. He was such a sweet guy and his smile instantly warmed the room whenever he walked in. He was special. Anyone he met at MSU instantly loved him. His warm heart shined through the roof. He use to send me lots of pics of his puppy last summer i always told him i wanted it. Although i can’t make it to his funeral today I’ll be there in spirit, sadly no one could take my shift. Prayers to his family and friends ❤️

Garritt, you have have been a major part of everyone’s life for the best. You were so special and had such a great heart. You were my best friend for such a long time and you introduced me to the game of baseball and so much more. I love you so much buddy rest easy and fly high. 

Garritt and I met over the summer before we arrived to MSU and then at MSU when he almost ran me over with his mustang and that’s how we became friends. He was always at my apartment hanging out with my roommates as his roommate was  mine’s boyfriend. Him and I ended up getting super close and we hung out everyday and we’d always went to get ice cream from chick fil a or to help him study with his homework or Kap Sig stuff, or etc.  He’d always call me and say “you ready to help me study? I really need to pass this test. If I don’t become a Kap Sig I’m switching schools” then we’d go and study. Garritt and I have a lot of memories. He’s my best friend. My person and I’m so thankful I met him. I’m so sorry for yalls loss, he always talked about y’all to me, especially Gavin. He was such an amazing person & Garritt, I love you always G, thank you for being my person, I miss you tons❤️

I met Garritt the summer before freshman year at MSU. Although I never got to meet him until we moved in, we were inseparable over the phone. Many FaceTime calls, Snapchats, sending each other memes, and texting anytime we had the chance. I even remember when he got Apollo. At MSU, everytime I saw him, I smiled, he was so genuine. The late nights in our dorms cramming for tests, our late nights when i really wanted ice cream and he took me. I can still see his big smile when he got his mustang and I was the first one he took for a ride. Gosh how I will miss his sweet smile. I am heartbroken that I can not make the funeral due to work, and distance but forever in my heart, love you always G.❤️

Garritt and I were in Greek Life together at Midwestern State University. Every time I saw him he always had a smile on his face and he was just so much fun to be around. I will miss him so much.

I had the pleasure of teaching Garritt in 6th grade and he’s one of those students you don’t ever forget. He was always polite, a helper, hard worker, and funny. He never complained and always did his best with a smile on his face, never a complaint. 

I am so saddened to hear this news.

Garritt was always considered my best friend. We met sophomore year (we had English together) and we instantly hit if off. We always say next to each other and then became super close telling each other everything  And being there for each other in tough times. Even though he would pick on me I knew it was out of love. We made so many memories I will cherish forever. I will never forget the FaceTime calls we would have just talking about random stuff and laughing and making plans for the following weekend of what we were gonna do and how much fun we would have. He left an impression on me and I’m thankful for getting to know his family and getting to know him as a person. I will never forget when he would pop up at my house and call me and be like “come on , let’s go we are gonna go eat” or something to that effect. He always taught me to have fun and live in the moment and I will always remember him stealing my glasses because he liked the way they looked. He was such a good kid who left a memory with everyone he came in contact with. I’m sending my prayers and condolences to his family through this hard time. I pray they find peace and I pray they get through this time. 

I went to go look at me and his text messages to see our last messages. They were about how proud I am of him for setting up his friend JRs go fund me page.  I know garritt because he is gavins older brother and gavin is my friend and I will always remember garritt making me laugh. He will be missed so much by the whole community.

Garritt was such an amazing friend of mine. We have been friends since middle school, and we were the type of friends that could go awhile not talking and then hang out and everything would be the same. We don’t know each other, but my daughter, Meredith, graduated with Garritt from Richland and they were friends. I had the pleasure of meeting your son once when we ran into him at the mall. He was so sweet and polite. Meredith always told me so many funny stories about him. I know that he was a good friend and he had a good heart. My own heart is breaking for you and your family, and I know there are really no words to suffice at a time like this.  Please know that so many of us—even people you’ve never met—are grieving with you and praying for peace and comfort. 

Every year in the beginning of school, Garritt would have a little party and all of us would go play basketball, football, eat, and have so much fun. Garritt made everyone he met laugh. much love gp. rest easy. 

Even though we are miles apart,  you are so much in my heart at this time of your loss. You were so kind to me when I lost my son and my heart breaks for your son taken too soon.  The Perdue and Allen family are kindest and most generous families I have ever known. I saw that first hand when you were there for me. My condolences, prayers and love go out to you.

He always had a smile on his face and was loved by so many people. This event was a formal event at MSU and I was beyond proud to see who he had grown to be from high school to seeing him in college again. He is missed dearly and one of the best people I got the honor of knowing. 

My son TJ was a friend of Garritt’s....  any time I had The pleasure of seeing him at our home he was always so incredibly kind, respectful and full of manners. Very sweet kid.  Our hearts and prayers are going out to your family.

When my family moved to NRH one of the first friendships we made was with the Perdue family. Philip and I had the pleasure of coaching our sons together in baseball. As a young boy Garritt had a little hitch in his throwing mechanics that was unique only to him, but man the kid could bring it. A gamer, versatile team player, respectful and a friend to all.  Youth baseball with the Perdue family was a wonderful experience that I have often reflected upon. 
Garritt, you touched all the bases and you have headed home. 
Your love of baseball will always be a part of some of my best memories. Thank You.

I’m so deeply sorry. Garritt never failed to put a smile on my face and was always there when I needed to laugh. He was always so pure and was never afraid to be himself. He won’t ever be forgotten and he will always be loved. 

I am a Richland high school graduate class of 2016. My senior year was Garritt’s freshman year and we met in Tech Theater. We both played baseball and shared the love for the game. The one thing that I saw in Garritt was that he was always in a good mood and would always ask me if I was excited to play college baseball and ask my for some tip to get to that next level. Our relationship with each other was not as extensive as maybe his good friends. A year went on and I got a text from Garritt asking me how I was doing and wanted to know all about the division 1 baseball experience. Garritt was like a kid in a candy shop. What really hit my heart was how after almost a year he checked up on me like he said he would. If you had the pleasure of meeting Garritt you know you could have a friend for life.  Rest In Peace Garritt. It was an honor that our paths crossed.
