

Gayle King Thompson was reunited with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 12, 2023. She and her twin sister, Dayle, were born on July 20, 1937 to Malcolm and Sybil King in Winnsboro, Texas. Gayle graduated from Pasadena High School in 1955, and in 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Floyd S. Thompson, in a double wedding with twin Dayle and Leonard D. Lewis of Woodbury, Texas. Then, Gayle worked as a secretary while Floyd studied Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. After graduation, Floyd began a longstanding career with the United States Air Force with his beloved wife at his side. Though, at times, separated by many miles, each wedding anniversary was celebrated by both couples together throughout their 65 years of marriage.
Gayle is preceded in death by her parents Malcolm and Sybil King; husband Floyd; son Kenneth (Ken); sisters Norma Campbell and Linda Fennen.
Gayle is survived by daughter Teresa O'Neal and husband Dale O'Neal; sisters Mary Blalock and Dayle Lewis and her husband Leonard D. Lewis; former daughter-in-law Tamara Thompson; grandchildren Anderson (Andie) O'Neal and Caden Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. A Christian witness, a member of Christ Chapel Bible Church, devoted wife and mother who will be greatly missed.
