

George was born in Red Bank, Tennessee on July 24, 1934 to Lester Campbell Massey and Nora Clements Massey. George graduated from Red Bank High School before attending David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tennessee. He received a B.A., M.A., and the MTh degrees.
George met Mary (Mary Frances Bolleau) at Harding University. George and Mary were married in 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They first lived in Memphis, Tennessee where Mary practiced nursing and George attended Graduate school. Between 1960 and 1964 Mary and George lived in New Jersey where George taught 6th grade in Middletown Township. Lisa was born in 1961 and the family moved to Seabright, New Jersey, living in a two story beach house between the river and the ocean. During those four years, Mary worked as a nurse and George preached for the 83rd St. Church in Manhattan, N.Y. In 1965, the family moved to Del City, Oklahoma where Delia was born and George spent the year teaching in Oklahoma City. In 1966 George took a position as Bible Chair Director in Denton, Texas. It was a campus ministry with the added opportunity to teach Bible courses for college credit. Mary continued to work in nursing in Denton, and here Jennifer was born (1968). Between 1975 and 1985, George was minister for the Church of Christ at Denton. After that he taught fourteen years in the Keller ISD in Keller, Texas. His favorite classes were in senior English. After about 30 years in Denton, Mary and George moved to Keller, Texas, George retiring from teaching and Mary retiring from several years of Hospice and oncology nursing.
George’s favorite ways to pass time were eating with good friends, reading a good book, and carving on a good block of wood.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, three daughters, Lisa Massey of Arlington, Texas, Delia Sweazea, of Frisco, Texas, and Jennifer Sasiain of Corinth, Texas.
He has four grandchildren, Jordan Sweazea - Mikeska, Sean Sasiain, Riley Sasiain, and Chloe Sweazea, and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Bryant Mikeska, and Tripp Alan Mikeska.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on March 25, 2023, at the North Richland Hills campus of the The Hills Church, 6300 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills, Texas. Memorials may be sent to The Community Enrichment Center of North Richland Hills, Texas.
