George attended Dublin High School and began his life journey by joining the military. George served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1951. After serving in the military, he pursued a career working for Lockheed Martin as a Maintenance Electrician.
George had a natural talent for building and fixing things around the house. He loved spending time outdoors and maintaining the yard. Occasionally he attended Fielder St. Baptist Church.
George is preceded in death by his father Theodore Ray and his mother Alice Proffitt; his first wife Patty Sue Thrasher; his second wife Francis Holly Mortenson; his brother Cecil Ray Proffitt (Bernice); and his daughter Elizabeth Gayle Grimes.
George is survived by his son Bob Proffitt (Elizabeth); his sister Margaret Ann Little (William R.); grandchildren Aimee, Erica, and Karen; his extended family members and neighbors Jerry Heppel (Cindy), Ken Moore (Kelly), and Al Mathiew (Carol).
George was laid to rest at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas.
He will be greatly missed more than words can say.
