George was born to the late George and Elizabeth Seidel, July 4, 1934, in Baltimore, Md. He grew up in Wilmington, Del. and attended Dickinson College, where he studied Geology. He retired from Flinn Scientific after spending over 40 years selling science related products to schools in Texas and was recognized by numerous teacher associations for supporting the fields of chemistry, biology and physics during his career. He had a passion for astronomy, classical music and opera. George achieved the rank of 3rd degree black belt in karate at the age of 68. He was a member of the West Side Unitarian Church and loved helping anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sara Jo; son, George Seidel III; and step son, Brian Peets.
Survivors: Sister, Carole and husband, Duane Jennings of Black Mountain, N.C.; daughter, Lisa Norcia and husband, Tim Allen of Lindenhurst, Ill.; daughter, Stephanie and husband, Jeff Degn of Fort Worth; son, Drew and wife, Heather Seidel of Longview; son, Greg and wife, Stephanie Seidel of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Gerry, Wade, Riley and Larkin.
