She married the love of her life, Larry Roberts, on March 31, 1961, and remained his loving wife until the end. She lived most of her life in Odessa, Texas, where she was an active member of the Sherwood Church of Christ, and played String Bass with the Midland Odessa Symphony Orchestra for over 20 years. She was also known for her caring nature and devotion to Knitted Knockers, assisting in providing soft, comfortable, knit prosthetics for Breast Cancer survivors.
Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jamison and Juanita Welsh Sr.; brother Jamison Welsh Jr; and brother in law, Kerryn Cox. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Larry Roberts; sons, Dr. Allen Roberts (Stacey Kuhnz) and Neil Roberts (Dr. Laura Lynn Roberts); sisters Suzanne Burch (Ron) and Pamela Cox; grandchildren, Lauren Leahey, Robert Leahey, Moriah Satkin, MacKenzie Kuhnz, Ashton Kuhnz, Olivia Kuhnz, Andy Roberts and Aaron Roberts; and great-grandchildren Matthew Wilson and Brooke Earle; as well as other living family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 9/28, from 9-10 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. The burial will follow at noon at Grandview Cemetery, 8757 E FM 916, Grandview, TX 76050.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask consideration of a donation to Knitted Knockers in memory of Gwendolyn.
