

Hugh earned a Business degree from Austin Peay State University in 1965. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966–1968. In 1971, Hugh graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
Throughout his career, Hugh practiced as an oil, gas, and energy resources attorney in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas, before he ultimately retired from Mobil Oil in 2001.
In 2012, Hugh and his wife, Colette, moved to Georgetown to be closer to their children and grandchildren, which allowed Hugh to spend time surrounded by the family he cherished.
Hugh is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Stowe; his brother, Dale Stowe; and his niece, Kimberly Stowe.
He is survived by his wife, Colette; his children, Matthew (Fati) Stowe, Farrar (Rudy) Sanchez, and Riley (Aleah) Stowe; step-daughter, Kim (Dusty) Combs; brother, Gary (Judy) Stowe; sister, Brenda (Russell) Stewart; grandchildren, Dominick (Isabelle) Combs, Zeta Sanchez, Bonnie Sanchez, Jackson Stowe, Gabriel Combs, Illa Sanchez, Eva Boswell, Andrew Stowe, Wyatt Sanchez, Lennon Combs, Maggie Combs, and Cyrus Stowe; great-grandchildren, Makayla Combs, Dakota Combs, and Malcolm Vasquez Sanchez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His family was the light of his life, and his passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life for Hugh will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134. Following the celebration of life will be a committal service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Laurel Land Memorial Park – Fort Worth, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
