The journey began March 22, 1916, when Jackson Marshall "Harvey" Norton was born to S.T. and Litha Jane Norton. He grew up with brothers Elmer, Herbert, Hoy and Bud Norton and sisters Lorene Stephens and Irene Ford Peterson. Their home was rich in love but very lacking in earthly goods.
He married Lucille Brown on Feb. 4, 1939. Together they started a small business in their garage in 1952. The business grew and was incorporated as Norton Metals Inc. in 1963. They were later joined in that business by their daughters and their spouses. Several of their grandchildren have also worked in that company. What Harvey and Lucille started 60 years ago has blessed the whole family as well as so many others.
Harvey has a great passion for God. He was among a few good men with a vision to establish a Christian school in Tarrant County. In the late 1950s, Fort Worth Christian School opened its doors. So many young lives and families have been touched by that school over the years.
Throughout his life he was dedicated to missions all over the world and to Christ's Haven for Children, a children's home in Tarrant County.
Mr. Norton had boundless curiosity. He was a "builder" and an innovator. He loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing, or traveling. During his lifetime he was able to visit all 7 continents. He enjoyed seeing other cultures and learning about them. He had gained great knowledge about the world during his travels and loved to share those experiences with others.
For 73 years Harvey and Lucille have loved God, each other and their children. As a result of that love their legacy lives on in four more generations; their daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
His journey ended at his final destination. There were no airport security and no rough seas. Best of all, his fare was paid by a gentle, loving Savior. "No eye as seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9.
Survivors: His wife of 73 years, Lucille Brown Norton; daughters, Judy Dunlap and husband, Larry, of Haslet, Jane Scott and husband, Dale, of Graford and Joyce Yates and husband, Larry, of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three nephews; four nieces; and a host of friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel, Fort Worth, TX.
