James was born April 16, 1941 to Maner Lee and Bess Dunn in Itasca, Texas.
He was a graduate of Paschal High School where he exceled in academics and athletics. He played football and was an All-American player. He earned a scholarship as a defensive-end which paved his way to future success. The relationships he built with friends in elementary school, middle school and especially in high school remained until the very end. He still kept up with his Paschal Pals who lovingly referred to him as "Jimmy."
On August 23, 1963 he married the love of his life, Carol A. Price. Together they had two children and a beautiful life.
In the workforce, Jim was respected and revered. He served as the mayor of Briar Oaks for many years.
James's work ethic transcended his efforts in all he did. He was a family man who loved to laugh and crack jokes. He was clean, neat and liked things to be in order. He was hospitable and loved to entertain guests. He coached his children on the field and in life. James enjoyed time on the golf course, the beach
and with his grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Lee Dunn.
He is survived by wife of 56 years, Carol; son, David Lee Dunn and wife Amie; daughter, Leslie Townley and husband Damon; brother, Johnny Dunn; sister, Beverly Hill; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and abundance of friends.
