Jim was born in Coleman, TX on January 28, 1944 and lived a full and adventurous 79 years. Throughout the various seasons of his life, he was a boy scout; jungle explorer in the Philippines; Air Force Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War; history teacher at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, TX; facilities director of the Tandy Corporation in Fort Worth, TX; manager with the American Heart Association, and ultimately retiring from his working career as a facilities manager with J.P. Morgan Chase Bank. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and member of the United Methodist Church.
He held a lifelong interest in camping and military history, becoming especially interested in WWII memorabilia after living in the Philippines as a young man. His vast personal collection of Japanese medicine bottles, many of which he discovered himself, was a talking point for anyone who entered his home. What made Jim most proud was his family; he often responded to those who loved him with an adamant, “I love you more.”
Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Vickie; his 3 children and their spouses; Jason-Stuart Giese and Judith Porto González, Erin Elizabeth and Derek Sutter, and Daniel Robert and Victoria Giese. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Mateo, Colby, Braden, and Anna; as well as his brother Jack Giese, sister Carol Porter, and numerous other family members.
Visitation will take place at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Home at 7301 E. Lancaster Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76112 from 5-8 on Friday evening, February 24.
