

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, PO Box 4486 Houston, TX 77210-4486.
He was born in Charleston, WV on November 20, 1953 to Mary Sue Brooks Holstein and James Henry Holstein. He is the oldest of 3 boys. He attended and graduated Stanton Military Academy. Following high school, he was accepted to Ole Miss University where he was in ROTC and graduated with a BA in Law Enforcement and Public Safety. Jim entered active duty military in 1974 as a 2nd Lt. at Ft. Knox, KY. He had a very extensive career in the military. He earned his MS in Defense Contracting, Logistics and Procurement while on active duty and ended his career of 25 years as a Lt. Colonel for the USArmy. He served in 1st Calvary Division, 68th Army Regiment, TACOM, 101st Air Assault Division, JTFB Honduras, and 13th COSCOM. Jim was employed at AECOM in Fort Worth Texas. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
He was married to Patricia E. Hare on July 11, 1986 in Biloxi Mississippi at St. John's Church.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Bonnie and Mack Brooks; mother Mary Sue Holstein; and brother John Beard (JB) Holstein.
Survivors: his father James Henry Holstein of Richmond Texas; wife Patricia E Holstein of North Richland Hills; brother Brooks Holstein of Biloxi MS; daughters Jaymee Dow of Leawood KS, Dawn Smith of Omaha NE, Becki Truxillo of Houston TX; son Jeff Howell of Jackson, MS; and His grandchildren Ben and Connor Smith, and Brooke and Bailey Truxillo.
