Janet Bower Tucker

Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials: Donations for the Circle of Friends are being accepted in care of Ms. Tran at Hillwood Middle School, Keller, Texas.

Janet grew up in the Girls Service League at the Scott Home at Thistle Hill in Fort Worth, where she developed a strong work ethic. She graduated from Paschal High School at the age of 16 and received her B.S. from Texas Wesleyan College at the age of 19, becoming the youngest school teacher in Fort Worth history. She later returned to school to learn computer programming, earning a position at Bell Helicopter, where she worked as a systems analyst for over 35 years before finally retiring.

Janet was a working mom before moms worked, and she instilled strong beliefs in her children, emphasizing the importance of academic excellence and family values before they became society buzz words. Her presence will be greatly missed by both family and friends.

Survivors: She is survived by her husband of 57 years, LD Tucker; children, Lisa Tucker Elrod and her husband, Johnny, Shelley Tucker, and Barry Tucker and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, John Elrod II and Michael Elrod; great-grandchildren, Kailey, Ashleigh and Addisyn Elrod; and her sister, Marilyn Haines.
