Jeffrey H. Manning Sr.

Our family is heartbroken to say goodbye to a guy with a heart as big as Texas- Jeff Manning. Jeff lost his battle with vasculitis and interstitial lung disease while hospitalized at UT Southwestern Medical Center on Ash Wednesday, March 5. He was 62.

Jeff will always be remembered as a larger than life (literally 6’5”) loving, kind, and Chris Farley-hilarious husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, nephew, friend, and beloved Uncle Bunyan to his niece and nephews. We will miss his animated stories, playful nature, and goofy phone calls and voice mails where he affected various accents (like sultry Eastern European, “Hallo? Zeese eese Rrroo-lah Lens-ka…”, a nod to the 1970s VO5 commercial.)

Jeff loved God and life, and never met a stranger. He saw the best in everyone. He loved to travel and explore with his wife Yvonne. They especially enjoyed their road trips together, appreciating the world’s natural beauty- wildflowers, collecting rocks and granite, and looking for aoudad (wild sheep) at Possum Kingdom Lake.

As a child Jeff loved minibikes (even introducing himself to new friends as “Minibike Manning”). That later evolved into a fondness for fast cars and jet skis. He worked many years in the auto industry, from sales to finance manager.

Jeff is predeceased by his father, Dr. A. Bryant Manning.

His survivors include his devoted wife of 21 years, Yvonne Miranda Manning; his mother, Gay Manning; children, Jeffrey B. Manning Ramey (Wife: Kaylee, Daughters: Rosie, Jade) and Salina Habibeh Lopez (Husband: Joshua, Son: Walter); and sister, Debbie Manning Withers (Husband: James, Children: Cole, Anna, Max).

No formal memorial service is planned. Small groups of friends and family have been gathering to celebrate Jeff’s life and that will continue.
