

Jimmy Ray Mitchell, Sr. was born May 4, 1949 in Fort Worth, Texas to the parentage of Willie Floyd and Tommie Annetta Mitchell. He was the fourth of ten children and was also known by the monikers of "Big Jimmy", "Wolf" and "Uncle Bill".
Jimmy received his formal education from the Fort Worth Independent School District and was a Paul Laurence Dunbar "Class of 1967" graduate. He later obtained his Associate of Applied Science degree from Lee College in Baytown, Texas.
Jimmy had a sleek sense of style and never shied away from a dance floor. Although known to be straightforward and direct about anything he needed to say, Jimmy was also caring and loving to those that he met in life to where he gained more sisters, brothers, children, nieces, nephews and friends then he could probably put a number to. He had a passion for cars and previously owned an automotive body shop.
He began working for the Tarrant Area Food Bank in 2003 and retired in 2020 after over 17 years of service.
Jimmy's Christian journey led him to Morning Star Church where he served under the leadership of his childhood friend, Pastor Wardell Lewis. It is there that he delivered his first sermon.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Willie Floyd and Tommie Annetta Mitchell; brother, John Anderson; sisters, Jacquelyn F. Corley and Annetta Gale Mitchell; and his beloved son, Jimmy Ray Mitchell, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Tameka "Tammy" Anderson (Gregg); granddaughters, Chandler Simone Anderson, Kinsley Rose Mitchell, D'Liyah J'Nice Qualls; godsons, Ivory Rutherford, Kalibh West; god grandchildren, Aiden Rutherford, Rosalie Rutherford, Amari Rutherford; siblings, Willie Jewell Douglas, Julia Kay Russell, Marvin Henry Mitchell, Sr. (Abby), Dianne Thompson (Darryl), Pamela A. Smith (Joe), Sherry E. Finley and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
