Jimmy was born June 8, 1926 to James Louis and Annie Myrtle Martin Onstott in Dublin, Texas. He passed away on September 12, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas. Jimmy was 96 years old. He grew up in Dublin, Texas and at the age of 7 moved to Fort Worth. When World War II broke out Jimmy joined the Marines and fought in the Pacific during the War. He returned home after the war and he married Katherine B. (Kitty) Wheeler on October 5, 1948. They had two children, Jan DaLee and Ricky Joe. Jimmy worked in grocery stores all of his life and for many years was manager of A&P in Fort Worth and then later became manager of T. J.’s Affiliated Food Store in Fort Worth.
Jimmy retired in 1991 from the grocery business, but he never lost his love of walking through a grocery store and observing how the business worked. At retirement Jimmy and Kitty spent many years traveling in their 5th wheeler camper and were a part of the Fort Worth Brand X Camping Club. Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Settlement and he was always seen at the door greeting people. In his retirement he spent a lot of his time helping old people by mowing their yards and taking them to the doctor. On February 22, 2013 Kitty passed away after they had spent 64 years in marriage.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Louis Onstott, Annie Myrtle Martin Onstott; sister, Vera Dee Onstott; and wife, Kitty Onstott.
He is survived by his daughter, Jan Onstott Branson and her husband, Steven Branson; his son, Ricky Onstott and his wife, Joanne Onstott; and by his 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jimmy can be sent to the First Baptist Church of White Settlement.
