

The son of Emma Jo [Nelson] Dyche and Charlie Boyd Dyche II, brother of Charlie Boyd Dyche III, Joe Nelson Dyche [82] passed away after a short illness on December 12, 2025 at Medical City Hospital in North Richland Hills. He is survived by his wife, Frances Diane [Choby] Dyche, younger brother, William Harrison Dyche III and his three children: Jennifer Diane Smith, Mamie Michelle Thornbrue and David Nelson Dyche. Joe spent his childhood and young adult life in Nashville, Tennessee attending Donelson High School. After graduating high school, Joe joined the army training as a radio communications officer and serving in Korea from 1965 - 1967.
Joe met Frances Diane Choby on a blind date in 1968 and they were married on January 31st, 1970 at St Edwards Catholic Church in Nashville. Later that year, they had their first child, Jennifer Diane in November. Three years later, a second daughter, Mamie Michelle was born and finally, David Nelson completed their family in 1981.
After working for twelve years for American Airlines in Nashville, Joe was forced to take a transfer to Fort Worth in 1980 and the family moved to Texas in 1981. He worked in Fleet Service at American Airlines for 37 years, retiring in 2005. During his life, he enjoyed many hobbies such as: collecting guns, rattlesnake hunting and learning martial arts. He eventually became a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and was an instructor at the American Dragon Academy in Watauga, Texas where he made many friends.
After retirement, Joe spent his time driving his black Mustang, listening to the Rolling Stones and enjoying being a grandfather to his nine grandchildren: Bobby Lee Moser [d. 1991], Hayden Alexander Thornbrue, Jordan Gabrielle [Thornbrue] Miranda, Jackson Ryan Smith, Ashley Rose Smith, James Nelson Dyche, Jacob Lee Dyche, Caleb Matthew Dyche and McCall Leigh Marshall. They all enjoyed many summers spent swimming in the pool at their house on Hill Court. Joe was particularly fond of McCall, who adored her Papa Joe and with whom he shared a special bond.
He will be sadly missed by his loved ones.
