Joe Robert Taylor , 83, returned to his heavenly home on March 2, 2015 after a valiant battle with an extended illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Joe was born to the late Mildred Kearby and Joseph Wesley Taylor, in Fort Worth, Texas on December 17, 1931. He graduated from Carter Riverside High School and then served in the United States Armed Forces being honorably discharged and received a Conduct Medal. Joe received his Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. Joe worked as an accountant for Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Mangum Radiator, Goodman Produce and Trail Master. In addition to accounting, Joe worked towards obtaining an English degree as being an English professor was his dream job. After retirement, Joe volunteered his time as a substitute teacher, enjoying his passion for reading, classical music, opera, working on genealogy research, and providing care for the love of his life. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Hurst where he enjoyed socializing with the Sunday school class. Joe had many friends, some of which he went to high school with and continued to socialize with regularly. Joe was a very giving man and supported many charity organizations for children, veterans, and animals.
Joe was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Patsy Joyce Boswell, on February 25, 1967 in Houston, Texas. Joe helped raise his four children with patience, discipline, and humility. He taught them the importance of honesty, integrity, humility, love and kindness. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore their own spiritual relationship. Joe was an educator at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Joe is survived by his wife, Patsy; his daughter, Carey Johnson and husband Tim; daughter, Pegeen Webb and husband Chris; daughter, Laura Taylor McDede, and son, Jeremy Taylor and wife Celia; his grandchildren Matt Johnson, Christina Wilkie, Holly Arendt, Hannah Webb, Lacy Taylor, Faith McDede and Rhett Newhart Taylor; his great-grandchildren Carley, Jacob, Mayson, Londyn, Emery, Angeles, and Ireland; his siblings, Polly Anne Culbreth, Bobby Taylor, David Taylor and his Great Aunt Polly.
