

Service: 10 a.m. Monday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

John was born June 10, 1927, in Macdona. He served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. John was assistant superintendent of the Union Pacific Railroad in Fort Worth. Later he transferred to San Antonio, then he retired in Brownsville on July 1, 1985, after 38 years of service.
Following retirement, John was recognized for his outstanding service to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth for his dedication of 27 years and more than 21,000 hours of volunteer service. John enjoyed working in his yard, spending time with family and friends, as well as his dog, Rusty. He was an active member of his church, first, Birchman Baptist Church, and more recently, Spring Valley Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Annie Marbach; his wife of 35 years, Marceline Marbach; twin brother, Alfred Marbach; sister, Mildred Waltisberger; son-in-law, Ronnie Smith; and beloved dog, Toby.
Survivors: His wife of 33 years, Betty Jo Marbach; daughters, Barbara Remmers and husband, Tommy, and Maxine Smith; sons, Marlin Marbach and wife, Lori, Donald Macky and wife, Jonice, and David Macky and wife, Pam; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Troy Remmers and wife, Mica, Krista Morgan and husband, Everett, Scott Smith and wife, Candice, Lauren Marbach, Elizabeth Lay, Melissa Macky, Laura Upchurch and husband, Boshman, Stefanie Marbach and Christopher Marbach; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Asher, Emilee, Carter, Jude, Izabelle, Donald and Gifton.
