With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Johnnie Marie Bacon, a woman whose kindness, faith, and unwavering spirit touched so many. Born on July 9, 1935, in Fort Worth, Texas, Johnnie spent her entire life in the city she cherished. From childhood adventures riding her bicycle and running up and down the old gravel pit by the White Lake Hills Dairy Farm to the many years she spent serving her community, Fort Worth was not just where she lived it was part of who she was.
Johnnie dedicated 38 years of service to the Fort Worth Water Department, and even after retirement, she continued to love the city’s people and traditions that made it home. Whether she was strolling down Main Street, attending the Fort Worth Rodeo in her best western outfit and cowboy hat, or rolling strikes with her beloved bowling league, Johnnie’s presence made the world a little brighter. Her teammates loved her not just for her skill but for the warmth and joy she brought to every game.
Johnnie also had a tender heart for animals, and her three beloved pups Alex, Faith, and Tuffy were constant companions, always by her side, showering her with love and loyalty. They brought her comfort, laughter, and joy, and she adored them just as they adored her.
But beyond all of this, Johnnie’s greatest love was for the Lord. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she found immense joy in her church and Sunday School class. For 20 years, she and her beloved husband, Arvil, read the Bible together, chapter by chapter, side by side a testament to their love for each other and for God.
Johnnie was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a cherished friend. Her heart overflowed with love for her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Though we grieve her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she has found her eternal home, walking streets of gold and resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Lillie May Chappell; her parents, Johnnie Samuel Chappell and Agnes Jane Dacus Chappell; and her siblings, Carrell and Charles Chappell. She leaves behind a family who adored her: her loving husband, Arvil Bacon; her dear cousin, Edna “Shorty” Wilson; her son, Douglas Blennert; her stepchildren, Everette Bacon and Angela Peters, Bill and Angela Bacon; and her precious grandchildren, Laura Blennert, Heather Blennert, Nicholes Blennert, Maddie Bacon, Addison Oxley, and Brooklyn Oxley.
Pallbearers are to be Mike Williams, Jack Simpson, Frank Plemmens, Paul Summerall, Wade Bennet, and A.J. Gutierrez.
Johnnie, we love you. You don’t have to long for Heaven anymore, you are finally home. And one day, we will meet you there.
