Her beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She was born Johnnie Lou Card on Sept. 27, 1921, the third daughter of Mary and John Card. John always wanted a son, so he named the third daughter Johnnie and she lived up to the name, both the first name and the last name. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and a graduate of Northside High School. She was outgoing and loved life and was a constant companion to her sister Dorothy. To see the two of them together was the personification of joy. She was the loving, caring mother of two sons, Bill and Ronnie, whom she cared so much for in sickness and health.
In her later years she became a great lover of cats, whether her own, a neighbor's or strays. They gave her many laughs and comfort. But the one closest to her heart was a black and white stray affectionately named BW.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Card; one sister, Mildred South; niece, Frances Hambrick; and one son, Ronnie McHarg.
Survivors: Son, Bill B. McHarg Jr. of San Diego; her sister, Dorothy Hambrick of Fort Worth; nieces, Jackie Sladovnik and Joanie Weisenbach of Dallas; and nephews, Chuck Hambrick of Dallas and Roger Hambrick of Houston.
Arrangements under the direction of Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel & Cemetery, Fort Worth, TX.
