

Visitation with a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Friday, October 13, 2023. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Jose Livar Basaldu was born in Mathis, Texas to Cruz and Victoria Basaldu on July 3, 1936.
He was known for his love of music, especially the accordion, his passion for his roosters which got him the name “Rooster Joe from Rock Island”. Joe will always be remembered for his humor and joke telling, but mostly, his contagious smile. The “original man in black” will be missed tremendously by his loved ones.
Joe is preceded in death by his father Cruz Basaldu, mother Victoria Basaldu, sisters Victoria Florez and Audelia Salazar, son Juan Manuel.
Joe Basaldu is survived by his wife Jackie Basaldu, sons, Manuel Basaldu and wife Carmen, Cruz Basaldu, Marco Basaldu, Joey Basaldu and wife Jessica; daughters, Molly Castro and husband Roy, Sylvia Jaramillo and husband Kenny Sr., Elva Kingsley, Barbara Basaldu, Brandi Hernandez and husband Armando. Brothers; Santiago Basaldu wife Maria, Manuel Basaldu wife Mary. Sisters; Elena Davila and Pifa Rodriguez,18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, close cousins, friends and compas.
Pallbearers will be sons Marco Basaldu, Joey Basaldu, grandsons Eric Kingsley, Kenny Jaramillo ll, Joe Cruz Hernandez, Luis Hernandez, Jonathan Gomez and son in law Armando Hernandez.
