Ms. Joyce Harris

Life Reflections

Joyce Powell Harris was born on June 5, 1939, in Longview, Texas. She was the daughter of Walker Powell and Loma Williams Powell. Joyce developed a relationship with Christ and united with the Beth Eden Baptist Church under the late Dr. B. R. Daniels, Sr. Joyce continued to service under her pastor, Dr. James L. Boatner. She loved her church.

Joyce was educated in the Longview Independent School District. Following graduation, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she met and later married Pete Harris. She was blessed with one son, Robert Powell, and one grandchild, Racheal Nicole Powell.

Joyce begin working for General Dynamics in 1979 as an Electronic Assembler for over 30 years before retiring at Elbit System Of America.

Joyce loved watching the football games and she loved going out to eat in the company of her friends. She was a great host on holidays.

She will be greatly missed.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, her granddaughter, and her siblings.

She finished her course on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith."

Joyce Harris is survived by her special friend, Willie Boone; best friend over 50 years, Santa Glenn; her caregiver, Sheila Mosley (Greg); and a host of family and close friends.
