He was born to Elonzo and Evie Worth in Winnsboro, Texas on December 30, 1933.
For those who loved him, and ache with his passing, know him by the other names he held: Brother. Dedicated husband. Father. Grandfather and Great Grandfather; or as he was often known to his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Grandpa, Papa, Gramps, and Opa.
Apart from serving in the Vietnam was, the Air Force took J.L. and Nelda all around the world. After 20 years of military service and his retirement, he held onto that love of travelling around the United States whenever Nelda would agree to go along.
His love of cars was also a passion that he roped Nelda into, much to the entertainment of the rest of the family. He would often surprise her with something new in the driveway, providing hours of discussion and laughter among the family members.
The best way to describe J.L. was hardworking, strong, loving, and gentle. He loved the family he built and was deeply devoted to his wife of 61 years. Their relationship set an example for anyone who knew them as a beacon of love and partnership.
In fatherhood, the love and encouragement he showed his children was unmatched. He was a strong and steady presence in their lives, always willing to offer his unwavering support no matter the issue.
After his retirement from civil service following his military career, he found a new love for Nelda's kitchen. Her meals were well sought after, of course, but he was prepared to assist behind the scenes. He proudly became her faithful dishwasher, and would not allow anyone else to help. The whole family has memories of trying to help clean up after a meal, only to be shooed out of the kitchen by J.L. so that he could have the honor himself.
He also took keenly to gardening, particularly his fruit trees, rose bushes and flowers. This nurturing spirit was most evident in his love for all of his 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. J.L. loved spending time with them, whether it be playing with them in the yard, taking them on tractor rides having their help setting up Christmas decorations or sitting down to talk over lunch that Nelda had made for them. It was hard pressed to ever go to their house and not find at least one grand or great grandchild there spending time with J.L. and Nelda, and all of the kids relished the time they got to share with him.
It brings us all great comfort to know that he is finally reunited with the love of his life, Nelda, and at home with her once again. While he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on in the stories and memories shared by his family, and the love he gave them that will remain in their hearts eternally.
J.L. is survived by Cheryl Aiello and husband Richard, Rhonda Worth, Teresa Williams, Kelly Worth and wife Sherrie, Lee Worth and wife Brenda, 11 grand children, 12 great grand children, 3 great great grand children as well as many other family members and friends.
