We honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Juanita Evonne Anderson, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born August 28,1948, to the late Glines L. Jackson, Sr. and Elmira Harnage Jackson in Longview, Texas. Juanita’s journey through life has been one filled with love, faith, and boundless generosity. The Lord peacefully called her home on March 5, 2026, in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, surrounded by family. She is leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Juanita's early years in Longview were marked by her spirited nature and a deep commitment to learning. She was a proud graduate of the Mary C. Womack High School class of 1966. She worked alongside her mother and sisters in domestic service, a longstanding source of livelihood for many Black women in the Deep South. Her thirst for knowledge led her to California, where she pursued professional studies, laying the groundwork for an incredible career. She began her professional journey as a key punch operator at TXI before finding her calling at American Airlines. She loved her co-workers and cultivated a family-like environment with food and laughter. Juanita dedicated 20 years of service to American Airlines as a Fleet/Cabin Service Clerk, retiring with commendations for her exceptional work and dedication.
She was united in marriage to the late Louis Henry Anderson on July 13, 1968. To this union, two sons were born Ricky and Darrin.
In her personal life, Juanita was a steadfast example of Christian faith, guided by the scripture she cherished: “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). She and her husband, Louis, raised their sons in that same faith, remaining devoted members of Eastland Church of Christ for nearly fifty years. She took great joy in preparing Ricky and Darrin for Easter Sunday in new outfits and ensuring they were active participants in youth programs, church activities, and Vacation Bible School. Juanita formed many cherished friendships within her church family, often sharing meals, hosting gatherings, and welcoming others into her home with genuine hospitality. She was known for her warmth and compassion, qualities she extended generously to everyone she encountered, especially the members of her REACH group.
Juanita's zest for life was evident in her love for travel. An avid world traveler and cruiser of the seas, she delighted in exploring new places, cultures, and experiences. Her adventures took her across the globe, but she always made time to visit family and friends, as well as the sick and shut-in, offering them comfort and joy with her cooking such as chicken salad, 7-up cake, sweet potato pie, and peach cobbler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Glines Jackson Jr (Glen), Glinita Y. Jones, Ralph W. Jackson, Thelma L. Johnson, niece Felicia Y. Cooper (Lisa), and brother-in-law Edward Lewis.
Juanita's commitment to people will be carried on by her devoted family: sons Ricky L. Anderson (Carla) and Dr. Darrin W. Anderson Sr. (Janell); her cherished grandchildren Isaiah L. Anderson, Darrin Anderson Jr. (DJ), Jayla Anderson, Courtlyn (Duke) Hill, Serenity McGrew, and Omarre Benoit; her sister Rhonda J. Lewis, and brother Vernon Lydell Jackson and brother-in-law Otis Johnson. Her memory will also be treasured by her beloved nephews Jock Williams (Tellisa), Rudy Jackson, Jeremy Moore, Jonathan Moore; nieces Scharun Brown, Shanekia Jackson, Chandalyn Jenkins (Chris); her special great-niece Cristilyn Jenkins, brother-in-law Willie Ray Anderson (Arlene) and Bo Mapps, and sister-in laws Olivia Anderson and Marie Anderson.
Juanita’s life was enriched by the presence of her dearest lifelong friends, including Barbara White and the “Original” Golden Girls, as well as her childhood friend, Dolly Horne. She was also surrounded by large and loving extended family—nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends who appreciated her deeply. She was blessed with exceptional neighbors as well: Bennie and Belvia Thomas, John and Mary Osby, and Joe and Ann Reese, with whom she shared more than fifty years of friendship and community.
