Kathryn Blauvelt Metroka, 61, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025. She was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on January 20, 1964. Kathy was a proud alumna of Michigan State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology. She was married to Mark Metroka on June 28, 1997, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Kathy worked for many years on clinical trials in the pharmaceutical industry before becoming a stay-at-home mom. After that, she worked as a volunteer and then an employee at Bruce Shulkey Elementary, where her children went to school. She was an active member of Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, and had a passion for sports, travel, board games, and volunteering, especially at school events for her two children, Daniel and Claire.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Charles Blauvelt Jr. She is survived by her mother, Pamela; her husband, Mark; her children, Daniel and Claire; and her brothers, Joseph (Chuck), John, Thomas, and Andrew; and many nephews and nieces.
Her funeral will be held at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church on March 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The viewing and memorial will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home on March 2, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
