Kayla Jeanette Derr, the daughter of Ronald L. Derr and Linda (Willis) Derr, was born on April 14, 1988, in Montour County, Pennsylvania. She departed this life unexpectedly on June 12, 2021, at the age of 33.
Kayla moved with her family to Crowley, Texas in 1990 where she attended Bess Race elementary school, Crowley Middle School, the Ninth-grade campus and graduated from Crowley high school. She excelled academically placing in honor roll, she became editor of her school newspaper and was prom queen her senior year. She developed many close friendships throughout her education but at home she just could not help but be competitive with her brothers. She was always wanting to be the center of attention, challenging them at every turn. She was witty, courageous and smart.
Following graduation, her brother told her about a position at TD Ameritrade. She landed the job where she shined for over 10 years. The challenge was difficult at times, but she always rose to the occasion and performed her duties admirably. She often obtained bonuses and won awards for her job performance. She enjoyed the analytical aspect of the job and went above and beyond to lead and help her team to achieve goals that would benefit both the company and the clients. She enjoyed being around people, working as a team, being with others.
Her caring and giving nature never shined more than it did following the birth of her child. She was a devoted and loving mother. She and her daughter had a special bond. Listening to them both singing together and watching them having snuggle time was magical. A more loving mother you could never find.
We will miss her and her silly little jokes but the memories we have will live in the hearts of all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her Paternal Grandparents Jean and Ronald Derr and her Maternal Grandmother Patsy Willis
She is survived by her daughter June Marie Jones, her mother Linda Derr, her father Ronald L. Derr and wife Deb, her brother Tim Shugrue and wife Brianne, Niece Abigail and nephew Silas.
