Kazue (Kay) Yamada McGirk of Crowley, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28th at the age of 91. Kazue was a beloved wife, mother and friend, whose kindness and beautiful smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Kazue was born on June 15, 1933 in Tokyo, Japan where she grew up as the eldest daughter of six of Choichi and Ie Yamada.
She met and married the love of her life Airman First Class Charles H. McGirk on January 19, 1962 and moved to the United States.
Kazue was a homemaker during her earlier years of marriage and then, worked as a men’s alterationist for Sanger Harris, Foley’s and Macy’s in Fort Worth.
She was actively involved in the Fort Worth Japanese Society and was a member of the Gambrell Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Choichi and Ie Yamada, her husband, Charles H. McGirk and her brothers, Tamotsu Yamada, Katsuso Yamada, Masaru Yamada and Junzo Yamada Yagishita.
She is survived by her sister, Yoko Yamada Nakane and husband Hisao of Saitama, Japan, and her daughter, Carolyn Johnston and husband, Todd of Burleson, Texas.
The family would like to thank her close friends, Yoko Hokozono and Irene Koscal for their friendship, care and compassion they showed Kazue during her final months. We would also like to thank AlevCare Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days, especially Becky, Stephanie, Lupe, Tonya and Angee.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home located at 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth.
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
