

Leona MOODY, age 86, of Mansfield, Texas passed away on Wednesday April 22, 2020. Leona was born March 25, 1934 Tommy Lee Porter welcomed her beautiful baby girl and named her Leona Elizabet Porter. This all took place in the small town of Mansfield, Texas.
Leona was the youngest of four children. Due to the untimely demise of her mother while she was just the tender young age of ten her grandmother continued to raise, nurture, and train her in the direction in which she should go. Leona accepted Christ at an early age. She joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church under the Reverend Billingslea. She participated in Mission 1and Mission 2, and Usher Ministry. She has remained a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She met and married Edward Gene Moody, Sr. on December 5th 1950 and remained married to her husband for 65 years, until his death in January, 2016
Shortly after the marriage, Edward and Leona were blessed to have five children, four girls and one boy. The Moody's opened up and ran their own convenient store named Dash-n-Go for 25 years, where she always greeted her customers with a smile and always said "thank you, now you come back". She worked diligently and hard until the retired in 1996. The Lord called her home-she had given God the best of her service. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Gene Mood, Sr. her daughter Dorothy Faye McKinney; her siblings, McClendon, Joyce and Roosevelt; and her mother.
Those left to cherish the precious memories of Leona are daughters, Evelyn Hemphill, Jeanette Moore and Debbie Williams, son Edward Gene Moody, Jr., Prayer Warrior, Cynthia Bennett; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
