

Leonard Denton, III was born on October 7, 1965 to the parentage of Leonard Denton, Jr. and Wanda Jean Gowans-Denton.His early years were spent growing up in Fort Worth, Texas attending schools such as Forest Oak Middle School and Trimble Tech High School.The Denton family soon migrated to Arlington, Texas where he attended and graduated from James Bowie High School in 1983.
Leonard was accepted to college at the University of Texas at Arlington, enlisted in the military, and worked nights at General Motors to pay for college tuition, simultaneously.He was a very hard working man that believed in excellence and a commitment to community service becoming a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.Hismilitary affiliation and leadership skills lead the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi to nickname Leonard "The General".
Leonard was the first in his family to earn a Bachelors' degree and on the same day of his graduation, he received military recognition from the United States Army as an Officer.His parents werepresent to pin him for this honor.He later received an Executive MBA from the University of Houston inspiring many other family members to pursue higher education as well.
The majority of his professional career was spent as a biotech sales professional andsales manager working for companies such as Genzyme and Sanofi. Due to his persuasive personality, he was frequently described as “someone that can sell water to the ocean”.As recently as March of 2015, he was ranked in the top 5% of sales professionals, all while fighting cancer.Leonard had true determination and tenacity.
Leonard is survived by: Son, Joshua Denton (Jessica) of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Nicole Denton-Flakes (Kendrix) of Houston, D. Denise Conley (Jeffrey) of Fort Worth and Talmadge Young of Mesquite; brother, Keithrich Denton (Jamie) of Mansfield; special cousin, Johnny Denton, Jr. (Tammy); aunt, Lanell Gowans; seven nieces; one nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as both sets of grandparents.
