A Celebration of His Life will be held at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2951 Evans Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104, on March 11, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow at Skyvue Memorial Gardens, 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Rd, Mansfield, TX 76063, on March 11, 2026.
Lester Joe Mitchell, 77, peacefully passed away on February 27, 2026, in Plano, Texas. He was born on September 27, 1948 and grew up in the Stop Six area of Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from Dunbar High School in 1966. He went to the University of North Texas and got his Physics degree in August of 1973. In March 1974, he joined the Fort Worth Fire Department and was a firefighter there for the next 28 years. While he was with the fire department, he took interest in real estate and received his Realtor License in February 1988.
In his spare time, Lester enjoyed photography, fixing up houses with his good friend and handyman Hosea, and watching sports. He also enjoyed going on exciting domestic and international cruises and vacations.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Mitchell and his mother, Ernestine Brown Mitchell. He is survived by his daughter, Revonna Woods; his grandson, Tavarous Woods; his sister, Ruby Kennedy and her husband Mike Kennedy; his nieces, Geneva Kennedy and Allison Kennedy; his nephew, Brian Kennedy; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him.
