Lois Marie Griffin

Lois Marie Voege Griffin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Lois was born February 10, 1932, in New York City to Harold and Cecilia Voege. She died the first time during a surgical procedure in 1970, but that one didn’t take. Lois was a graduate of Houghton College and New York University. She spent most of her professional life as a computer programmer, starting as one of the original women programmers hired by IBM in the early 1960’s and retiring from the Texas State Comptroller’s office in 1994. In her day, she claimed that she was one of the best COBOL programmers ever! Lois loved spending time with her family and many friends. Lois had a fun sense of humor and quick wit that everyone enjoyed. She was a chocolate lover for sure! She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and watching old movies. And she loved chocolate! Lois was very proud to have recently entered her 30th year of sobriety, and she was a breast cancer survivor. She was also a proud chocolate lover! Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Voege; two sisters, Carol Voege and Ruth Wilcock; her infant son, Daniel Scott Griffin; and her dogs, Jeb and Mikey. She is survived by her son, Frank Griffin; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Griffin; two beloved grandchildren, Regan and Reid Griffin; nephews, Rob Voege and John Wilcock; nieces, Kathi Harvey, Gayle Buckman, Debra Voege, and Heather Voege; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2016, at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel, 6001 Rufe Snow, North Richland Hills, Texas.
