

Mabelene Graduated from Hornbeck Highschool in Hornbeck, Louisiana and pursued a career as a Certified Dental Assistant. Her strong faith led her to attend 1st Baptist Church of Fort Worth for many years. She enjoyed various creative activities like gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Her joy for music could be felt in her passionate singing and piano playing. Married to the love of her life, Edward, she often admired his courage and strength being a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mabelene loved exploring new places, she collected many pictures from her travel adventures with family and friends. She went to Paris, France with her husband and the General Dynamic teams with the F-16 Fighter Jet. Took a trip to Hawaii with her daughter, Gyrene, where they had the privilege to see the Pearl Harbor Memorial. With her church friends she went to her 1st and only Alaska cruise.
Mabelene is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Koonce; parents, Robert and Eunice Skinner; sister, Martha Jarrell, and brother, Robert (Junior) Skinner Jr.; children, Wenelle Power; son-in-law, Jerry Power; great grandson, Zachary William Springer.
Survived by her three children, Barbara (Benson) Kennedy, Gyrene Kennedy, Sheri (Mark) Knotts; brother, Wayne (Beverly) Skinner; 10 grand children, Brian (Amanda) Kennedy, Amy (Jason) Shook, Jerry (Carrie) Power Jr., Garry (Jessica) Power, Leslie (Damon) Harvey, Kei (Devan) Kennedy, Gena (Sean) Springer, Ashley (Travis) Coulbourn, Mikayla (Victor) Cornier, Caleb (Makenzi) Knotts; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren (2 more on the way); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family.
